Recycling

The production of electrical and electronic products is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Due to the popularity of these products with consumers, it is also one of the fastest growing waste streams. Rather than disposing of this waste as landfill, much of it can be recycled. The purpose of this page is to provide you with information on how to recycle your Nintendo electrical and electronic products and batteries.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Products

Nintendo products bearing the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown below should not be disposed of with your general household waste. These products should be sent to separate collection facilities for recovery and recycling.

Nintendo is a member of the Government approved “Distributor Take Back scheme” set up by Valpak. By joining this scheme, Nintendo is contributing to the establishment of a network of collection facilities where consumers may dispose of their waste electrical and electronic products for recycling free of charge. We ask that you take all your waste electrical and electronic products to a collection facility. To find a collection facility in your area please visit http://www.recycle-more.co.uk/banklocator/banklocator.aspx

Batteries

The disposal of portable and rechargeable batteries is regulated in the UK. Since batteries contain heavy materials, such as lead, mercury and cadmium, which can cause serious environmental and health problems, they should be separately collected and recycled.

All batteries are labelled with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Batteries containing hazardous substances such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg) or cadmium (Cd) are marked with their chemical symbol as well. Batteries should not be disposed of with your general household waste. Nintendo contributes to the financing of a network of collection facilities where consumers may dispose of their batteries free of charge. We ask that you take all of your batteries to a collection facility. To find a collection facility in your area please visit http://www.recycle-more.co.uk/banklocator/banklocator.aspx.
